Personalised gift for readers

Engraved with your words, in beech or walnut

A page holder shaped from one piece of wood. Your thumb sits in the hole, the arms press the pages flat, and whatever you choose is engraved into the grain for good.

One thumb, one hand

The 2.5cm hole takes your thumb and the two arms press down either side of the spine. A paperback stays open flat while your other hand is holding a mug, a bus rail, or a sleeping child.

Engraved, not printed

The lettering is cut into the surface, so it can't peel or wear off the way transfers do. It will still be legible when the book it came with has been read four times.

Beech or walnut

Beech is pale and close-grained, so the engraving reads sharply against it. Walnut is darker and warmer, with more figure in the grain and a quieter contrast. Same shape, same weight, different mood.

Kind to the pages

Every edge is sanded round and the underside is smooth. Nothing clamps, nothing bites, and there is no metal anywhere near the paper.

A gift that is obviously for them

The page holder given as a gift to readers, students and teachers

A name, an in-joke, or the line you would have written inside the front cover. Bear the lead time in mind if it's for an occasion — allow four weeks for birthdays or Christmas. Teachers, students, book club regulars and anyone who has ever lost their place while answering the door.

Honest lead times

Every page holder is engraved to order, so please allow 4–7 working days to engrave and dispatch, then up to 14 working days for delivery — about four weeks in total. Delivery is free across the UK. If it's a Christmas present, order by early November.

How long will it take to arrive?

Each one is engraved to order, so it is not a next-day item. Allow 4 to 7 working days for us to engrave and dispatch it, then up to 14 working days for delivery — about four weeks in total. If it is a Christmas present, order by early November.

Can I have my own wording?

Not at the moment. We engrave four set phrases, which keeps the lettering consistent and the price down. Pick the one you want and that is exactly what gets burned into the wood. The face is the same on every one: Book Worm above a small book-and-rose design.

Can I return a personalised one?

Because it's personalised to your order, it's exempt from the standard 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. If it arrives faulty, or engraved differently from what you ordered, send a photo and we'll replace it free of charge.

Will it mark or bend the pages?

No. The edges are rounded and the pressure is spread across both arms rather than pinching one spot. It holds the pages down, it does not grip them.
